Boehringer Ingelheim has officially opened its new U.S. Animal Health headquarters in Johns Creek, Georgia, adding to the animal health company’s existing research, development and manufacturing presence in the state.
The company said Johns Creek was selected because of its access to talent in the region’s growing life sciences and innovation corridor, as well as its proximity to other Boehringer Ingelheim operations in Georgia.
“The animals we care for and the customers we serve are at the center of everything we do,” said Peter Ploeger, U.S. Animal Health country managing director at Boehringer Ingelheim. “This headquarters was designed to bring our people together, inspire collaboration, and strengthen our ability to develop solutions that improve the lives of companion animals, livestock, and the people who care for them.”
Building on Boehringer’s Georgia operations
The Johns Creek headquarters joins an existing Boehringer Ingelheim footprint in Georgia that includes research, development and manufacturing operations in Athens and manufacturing operations in Gainesville.
Together, the sites encompass commercial, manufacturing and innovation activities for the company’s animal health business. Boehringer said it continues to invest in its Georgia operations as part of its efforts to develop and deliver animal health products in the U.S. and other markets.
The grand opening included elected officials, community leaders, customers, partners and company employees.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said the Johns Creek investment, along with the company’s support for animal welfare initiatives and law enforcement K-9s, reflects Boehringer Ingelheim’s commitment to the state.
Company donates NexGard Plus to local K-9 unit
As part of the opening, Alexandra McMenamy, U.S. Animal Health head of Pet at Boehringer Ingelheim, joined Johns Creek officials in presenting a donation of NexGard Plus parasite protection to the Johns Creek Police Department’s K-9 Unit.
The donation followed International Dog Day on Aug. 26 and was intended to recognize the police department’s service to the community.
“We are proud to welcome a company committed to the well-being of animals,” Johns Creek Mayor John Bradberry said. “Boehringer Ingelheim’s support of the Johns Creek Police Department’s K-9 Unit is greatly appreciated.”
Boehringer Ingelheim operates in both human and animal health and has approximately 54,500 employees serving more than 130 markets.
