Wonderdog Bets on Early Detection With At-Home Blood Testing and AI Health Monitoring for Dogs

Wonderdog has launched a membership-based preventive health platform that combines at-home blood testing, veterinary-reviewed diagnostics and an AI-powered health companion to help detect disease in dogs before clinical signs appear. Backed by $5 million in pre-seed funding, the company aims to shift canine healthcare from reactive treatment to continuous health monitoring.
  • Wonderdog combines annual or semiannual at-home blood testing with AI-powered health tracking through a subscription platform.
  • Blood samples are analyzed by Antech and reviewed by licensed veterinarians before results are delivered through the Wonderdog app.
  • The platform measures more than 40 biomarkers across six body systems and integrates results with medical history, activity, nutrition and other health data.
  • An AI assistant called Spark provides personalized health insights and helps owners interpret symptoms and determine when veterinary care may be needed.
  • Wonderdog has raised $5 million in pre-seed funding led by WndrCo and Maveron.
  • The service is initially available in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Los Angeles County, with expansion planned for Phoenix and Miami.

As interest in preventive veterinary medicine continues to grow, Wonderdog has introduced a new consumer health platform designed to help dog owners identify potential health problems before symptoms become apparent.

The membership-based service combines in-home blood collection, laboratory diagnostics and artificial intelligence to create a longitudinal health record that tracks changes throughout a dog’s life.

Bringing preventive diagnostics into the home

Wonderdog’s platform centers on annual or twice-yearly blood testing performed during in-home visits by licensed veterinary technicians. According to the company, each blood panel evaluates more than 40 biomarkers across six major body systems.

Samples are processed by veterinary diagnostics provider Antech before being reviewed by licensed veterinarians. Results are then translated into owner-friendly reports and delivered through the Wonderdog mobile app within three business days. Pet owners also have the option of sharing the reports with their primary veterinarian.

The company says routine monitoring may help identify health changes earlier than symptom-based veterinary visits alone, allowing owners and veterinarians to intervene sooner when disease develops.

AI companion builds a lifelong health record

Beyond laboratory testing, Wonderdog integrates bloodwork with breed information, medical records, medications, nutrition, activity levels and owner-reported observations to create a continuously evolving health profile.

The platform’s AI assistant, Spark, is designed to analyze those data over time, identify trends and provide personalized health insights rather than relying on generalized information.

Funding supports expansion

Wonderdog announced it has secured $5 million in pre-seed financing led by venture capital firms WndrCo and Maveron to support product development and market expansion. The subscription service is currently available in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Los Angeles County, with Phoenix and Miami expected to be added next. Annual membership costs $249 and includes one at-home blood collection each year, while a premium membership with two annual blood draws is priced at $448.
