OpenVet Expands Free AI Clinical Platform to All Licensed Veterinarians in Public Beta

OpenVet has announced the public beta launch of its AI-powered clinical platform, giving licensed veterinarians free access to its software through both a web application and a new email-based clinical consultation feature.

The Miami-based company says the platform is built around a single longitudinal medical record for each patient and is intended to reduce administrative burden while supporting clinical decision-making. OpenVet assists with tasks including history collection, medical documentation, differential diagnoses, treatment planning, weight-based dosing calculations, and drug interaction screening.

Email-based clinical support

As part of the public beta, veterinarians can email clinical questions or laboratory results to ask@openvet.ai and receive structured responses that include differential diagnoses, dosing recommendations, and suggested next steps. Users can then continue reviewing supporting evidence and clinical calculators within the OpenVet application.

AI designed around patient-specific records

Unlike general-purpose AI chatbots, OpenVet says its platform generates recommendations using information contained within an individual patient’s medical record. The company also states that its hybrid AI architecture validates responses against fixed clinical reference data and provides citations linking recommendations to textbooks, clinical guidelines, and peer-reviewed literature.

According to OpenVet, veterinarians remain responsible for all clinical decisions, with the platform serving as a decision-support resource rather than an autonomous diagnostic system.

The company noted that the public launch follows a private beta involving hundreds of veterinary practices. OpenVet says user feedback during that period helped refine the platform before broader availability.

Clinical workflow tools

The software is organized into dedicated clinical workspaces for different areas of practice. These include general medicine, emergency and critical care, and pharmacy. Features include CPR timing tools, toxicology dose references, fluid therapy calculators, species-specific vital parameters, and a formulary containing thousands of veterinary medications across canine, feline, equine, bovine, and exotic species.

OpenVet also says patient records are encrypted both in transit and at rest, remain isolated to individual practices, and are not used to train external AI models.

The platform is available immediately to licensed veterinarians at no cost during the Public Beta.
