Light therapy company Capillus is entering the pet wellness market with two wearable devices designed to bring red and near-infrared light therapy into the home for dogs.
The company has introduced the Capillus Pet Vest and Pet Joint Wrap, extending technology it has previously marketed for human health and wellness into companion animal applications.
Capillus said both devices use targeted red and near-infrared wavelengths and are intended to support circulation, relaxation, muscle and joint comfort, and the body’s natural restorative processes.
The launch comes amid growing interest in photobiomodulation, or PBM, for veterinary applications. Capillus cited published research examining light therapy in dogs with osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions as part of the rationale behind its move into the pet market.
Pet Vest Offers Broader Light Coverage
The $299 Pet Vest is designed as an ergonomic harness that positions light sources across a dog’s back and underneath the chest and abdominal area.
Capillus will offer the vest in medium and large sizes and says it is designed to provide broader, simultaneous light exposure across multiple areas of the body.
The device includes four operating modes — steady, calm, recovery and wellness — as well as low, medium and high intensity settings. Capillus recommends 20-minute sessions three to four times per week.
Joint Wrap Targets Localized Areas
The $199 Pet Joint Wrap takes a more targeted approach. It is designed to wrap around a dog’s legs and joints, particularly areas where stiffness or injury may occur.
Capillus is positioning the device for localized joint support and natural recovery rather than the broader coverage offered by the vest.
Both products will be sold directly through the company’s website at launch.
Capillus Moves Beyond Human Wellness
The launch represents an expansion into a new market for Capillus, which has spent more than a decade developing light therapy products primarily for people.
“For over a decade, Capillus has delivered research-backed red light therapy to help people take control of how they heal and age,” Capillus CEO Domingo “Opi” Moreira said. He described extending the technology to pets as a natural evolution for the company.
With the Pet Vest and Pet Joint Wrap, Capillus joins a growing category of companies offering noninvasive technologies aimed at pet owners seeking additional options to support mobility, recovery and wellness at home.
