Vetirus Pharmaceuticals has entered a strategic collaboration with Immune Propulsion, LLC to develop and commercialize IPVM-173, a novel immunotherapy targeting large mass tumors in companion animals.
A novel approach to immune amplification
IPVM-173 is an IgG-degrading protease developed by Immune Propulsion’s subsidiary, ImmuneProVM. The therapy is designed to enhance the host’s anti-tumor immune response by cleaving the hinge region of IgG antibodies—redirecting a natural bacterial mechanism into a therapeutic strategy.
Preclinical research on IdeS-family enzymes indicates the potential to significantly boost the potency of monoclonal antibodies in oncology models. Additionally, naturally occurring anti-hinge antibodies in healthy individuals may further support tumor cell destruction. The companies report that this approach could deliver enhanced efficacy without increasing side effects.
Addressing unmet needs in veterinary oncology
