Dechra announced plans to relocate its global headquarters to Boston, Massachusetts, shifting its executive leadership and strategic operations to one of the world’s most prominent life sciences hubs.
The move aligns with the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the North American veterinary market while positioning leadership within a region known for biotechnology innovation, research institutions, and global connectivity.
“As a pioneer in life sciences and innovation, Boston represents an exciting new chapter for Dechra,” said CEO Jesper Nordengaard, who will relocate to Boston as part of the transition. “Our new headquarters will serve as a center of gravity for strategic decision-making and purposeful collaboration.”
Collaboration Hub to Support Remote-First Workforce
Dechra’s new headquarters will occupy more than 28,000 square feet in Boston’s Seaport District and is designed to support the company’s remote-first operating model.
Rather than functioning as a traditional office, the space will serve as a technology-enabled collaboration hub designed for global meetings, innovation initiatives, and cross-functional teamwork. Most employees will continue working remotely or through hybrid arrangements, with the headquarters acting as a central gathering point for leadership and strategic projects.
The facility is expected to become operational by June 2026.
Consolidation of U.S. and U.K. Offices
As part of the headquarters transition, Dechra plans to consolidate its current U.S. offices in Kansas City, Kansas, and Portland, Maine. The consolidation reflects the company’s shift toward a distributed workforce model while maintaining centralized collaboration spaces.
In the United Kingdom, Dechra is proposing to combine its Northwich and Sansaw offices into a new Manchester location that will support European and international operations. Additional details regarding the U.K. transition are expected later in 2026.
Massachusetts Leaders Welcome Expansion
State and industry leaders welcomed the announcement, highlighting Massachusetts’ status as a global center for life sciences innovation.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey said the relocation demonstrates the state’s continued ability to attract companies working at the forefront of health and science innovation.
Industry groups, including MassBio, also noted that the region’s collaborative ecosystem—linking academia, biotechnology companies, and healthcare organizations—positions Boston as an ideal location for companies advancing new solutions in animal health.
The relocation underscores Dechra’s long-term commitment to innovation, global collaboration, and advancing veterinary specialty care worldwide.
