For the first time, scientists, veterinarians and biotechnology innovators focused on extending healthy lifespan in animals will gather at a dedicated international conference designed exclusively for the emerging field of animal longevity.
The inaugural Animal Longevity Summit (ALOS) will take place Oct. 1-2, 2026, in Toronto, creating what organizers describe as the first global scientific forum devoted entirely to advancing research on healthy aging and longevity in animals.
Building a Scientific Home for Animal Longevity
Interest in aging research has accelerated in recent years, fueled by initiatives such as the Dog Aging Project and an expanding pipeline of veterinary clinical trials investigating interventions designed to improve healthspan in companion animals.
While discoveries in geroscience have increasingly highlighted the role animals can play in understanding the biology of aging, organizers say the field has lacked a dedicated venue where veterinary researchers, clinicians, biotechnology companies and investors can collaborate.
“The field of human longevity has grown tremendously over the past decade, yet animal longevity…has lacked a dedicated scientific home,” said Vyom Goel, founder of the Animal Longevity Summit.
Focus on Veterinary Geroscience
The conference will feature eight scientific tracks covering topics including canine longevity, comparative biology of aging, biomarkers and biological aging clocks, veterinary geroscience, longevity therapeutics, and translating discoveries across species to both veterinary and human medicine.
The program will include keynote presentations, expert panels, research presentations and a showcase highlighting work from early-career scientists.
Confirmed speakers include internationally recognized aging researchers Dr. Matt Kaeberlein of the Dog Aging Project, Dr. Vera Gorbunova, Dr. Aubrey de Grey, Dr. Varun Dwaraka, Liz Parrish, and Dr. Raghav Sehgal.
Industry Participation Expected
The summit will also feature biotechnology companies presenting new longevity research. Genflow Biosciences has announced plans to share findings from its SLAB gene therapy study in aged beagles, with additional research presentations expected as the program expands.
Organizers say the event is designed to foster collaboration across academia, veterinary medicine and industry while accelerating development of interventions that could improve healthy lifespan in companion animals and potentially inform human aging research.
