Mars Veterinary Health has released its 2025 Science Impact Report — Pets, Purpose, Progress: Clinical Excellence through Scientific Innovation, a comprehensive review of the veterinary research and global initiatives advancing pet health across its network.
The report captures a year of accelerated research, with more than 500 peer-reviewed publications authored by clinicians and scientists across its hospitals. It highlights achievements spanning clinical innovation, One Health, sustainability, and genetic discovery, reflecting the organization’s long-term commitment to scientific leadership in animal health.

Clinician and technician scientists across Mars Veterinary Health leverage anonymized data from millions of pets each year to conduct research that informs real-world clinical care. Key highlights from the 2025 report include:
- Comprehensive Health Research — Studies spanning oncology, neurology, dermatology, anesthesia, infectious disease, and AI applications for clinical decision support.
- One Health Progress — Identification of a novel rabies variant in the U.S. and a human erythroparvovirus analogue in cats in Italy, along with research on environmental impacts such as mercury exposure and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Genetic Discovery — The MARS PETCARE BIOBANK™, now with over 4,500 enrolled pets, helped identify a SLAMF1 variant linked to canine atopic dermatitis, contributing to the development of a new DNA test in partnership with academia.
