- Antech has launched the trūRapid Reader for veterinary practices in North America.
- The portable device captures a digital image of trūRapid test results at the specified 10-minute read time.
- Veterinary professionals review and confirm results before they are transferred to a connected practice information management system.
- The Reader supports Antech’s trūRapid FOUR canine vector-borne disease test and trūRapid FIV/FeLV feline screening test.
- The device stores approximately 200 test images and does not require routine calibration or maintenance.
- Results can also be viewed through Antech’s HealthTracks digital diagnostics platform.
Antech has introduced a portable reader designed to automate timed image capture and simplify documentation of results from its growing portfolio of in-house rapid diagnostic tests.
The trūRapid Reader is now available in North America and captures a digital image of a trūRapid test at its specified 10-minute read time. Following review and confirmation by veterinary professionals, results can be transferred to a connected practice information management system.
The device is designed to reduce manual steps associated with timing, documenting and entering rapid test results while keeping interpretation and confirmation in the hands of veterinary professionals.
Reader supports canine and feline screening tests
The device supports Antech’s trūRapid portfolio, which currently includes trūRapid FOUR and trūRapid FIV/FeLV.
The trūRapid FOUR test screens dogs for Dirofilaria immitis heartworm antigen and antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi, Anaplasma spp. and Ehrlichia spp.
The trūRapid FIV/FeLV test screens cats for feline leukemia virus antigen and feline immunodeficiency virus antibody.
Use of the Reader is not required to perform the tests. Antech said trūRapid tests can continue to be interpreted visually, with results evaluated alongside patient history, clinical signs and veterinary clinical judgment.
Timed capture targets workflow efficiency
One of the Reader’s primary functions is capturing a test image automatically at the 10-minute reading point, removing the need for veterinary teams to manage a separate timer.
The device can store approximately 200 images for later review.
Antech designed the Reader without routine calibration or maintenance requirements. Samples do not enter the device, reducing the potential for sample residue or dried material to accumulate internally.
The portable system includes a 4.3-inch touchscreen and does not require a separate monitor.
Jimmy Barr, DVM, DACVECC, chief medical officer at Antech, said the company developed the Reader to simplify testing workflows and help veterinary teams work more efficiently.
Integration connects rapid and reference lab results
Practices can also view results through Antech’s HealthTracks platform.
The digital platform is designed to bring information from in-house rapid testing, reference laboratory diagnostics and other diagnostic sources into a consolidated patient view.
The Reader expands Antech’s connected diagnostic ecosystem as the company continues developing tools intended to link point-of-care testing with veterinary practice software and patient records.
Antech is part of Mars Science & Diagnostics and provides veterinary reference laboratory services, in-house diagnostics, imaging equipment and services, and diagnostic software.
