Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences has expanded its veterinary product portfolio with the introduction of two products designed for wound management and skin care in dogs, cats and horses.
The company launched Consil Matrix, an extracellular matrix-inspired wound care product, along with Consil Matrix Topical Cream, a non-medicated product for routine skin conditioning.
The products represent Nutramax’s expansion into additional areas of veterinary care through its relationship with SiOxMed.
Silica-based scaffold designed for wound care
Consil Matrix is composed of amorphous silica-based microfibers designed to create a scaffold within a wound.
According to Nutramax, the silica-based structure supports fibrin deposition and clot stabilization to help control bleeding. The scaffold is also intended to maintain moisture balance and a protective wound environment while supporting tissue integration and vascularization during wound repair.
The multilayered device can be separated into layers depending on the amount needed for an application. Its structure is designed to conform to wound beds and areas with irregular anatomy.
Todd Henderson, DVM, president and CEO of Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences, said the launch gives veterinary professionals another option for managing wounds while moving the company into a new area of animal health.
Topical cream targets routine skin conditioning
Nutramax is also introducing Consil Matrix Topical Cream for dogs, cats and horses.
The fragrance-free, non-medicated cream is intended for routine skin conditioning. Its ingredients are designed to maintain moisture, support skin comfort and promote healthy-looking skin.
The company did not position the topical cream as a medicated treatment.
Nutramax broadens veterinary portfolio
Nutramax develops and distributes a range of animal health products and supplements and conducts or supports laboratory research and clinical studies involving its products.
Its existing veterinary portfolio includes Cosequin and Dasuquin for joint health, Denamarin for liver support, Proviable for digestive health, Solliquin for behavioral health and Welactin for skin and coat health.
The addition of Consil Matrix and Consil Matrix Topical Cream moves the company further into products intended for veterinary wound management and skin care.
