Patterson Companies has named Wasi Ahmed as chief information officer, placing him in charge of the company’s enterprise technology strategy as Patterson continues to modernize its technology infrastructure.
Ahmed, whose appointment became effective Aug. 17, will report directly to Patterson CEO Robert Rajalingam and serve on the company’s executive leadership team.
As CIO, Ahmed will oversee efforts to strengthen Patterson’s technology foundation and accelerate its SAP modernization. His responsibilities will also include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and analytics, as well as aligning technology investments with the company’s growth, productivity and innovation priorities.
More than 30 years of technology leadership
Ahmed brings more than three decades of experience leading technology initiatives across the distribution, manufacturing, software and consumer products industries.
Most recently, he served as chief technical and chief information officer at Foundation Building Materials. In that role, Ahmed led initiatives involving enterprise-wide SAP modernization, cloud transformation, cybersecurity, AI-enabled automation and e-commerce growth.
He also oversaw the technology integration of more than 70 acquisitions for the building materials distributor, which generated more than $7 billion in revenue.
Earlier in his career, Ahmed served as CIO of Yokohama Tire Corporation of North America and held senior technology leadership positions at Ventura Foods, Pharmavite and Oracle.
Technology strategy tied to Patterson’s growth plans
Rajalingam said Ahmed’s experience developing scalable technology platforms aligns with Patterson’s future operating model and long-term growth strategy.
