Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the Connecticut Science Center have launched a new Innovation Lab, a dedicated educational space designed to expand access to STEM learning opportunities for students and families across Connecticut.
Located within the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford, the Innovation Lab will offer a curriculum centered on career pathways in human health, biology, and pharmaceutical sciences. The space will feature interactive workshops and hands-on learning experiences that demonstrate how scientific discovery translates into real-world medical advancements.
“At Boehringer, we think in generations. Investing in STEM education means investing in the future generation of innovators, creators and scientists,” said Jean-Michel Boers, President and CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim USA. “By expanding access and creating hands-on learning experiences, we are helping students see how science can make a meaningful, real-world impact.”
The initiative is part of Boehringer’s broader commitment to strengthening Connecticut’s STEM ecosystem and supporting long-term workforce development in the life sciences sector.
Matt Fleury, President and CEO of the Connecticut Science Center, emphasized the importance of early exposure to science careers. “Through the Innovation Lab, we’re creating more opportunities for students to explore the science behind medicines and understand how discoveries translate into meaningful outcomes for patients and communities,” he said.
The launch coincides with the Connecticut Science Center’s STEM Career Showcase, which is expected to welcome more than 500 middle and high school students. The event will bring together educators, students, industry professionals, and government leaders to highlight career pathways and workforce opportunities in science and technology.
