Boehringer Ingelheim has become a Human-Animal Bond Certified Company, a designation from the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) and the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) recognizing organizations that actively support education, research, and advocacy surrounding the human-animal bond.
The announcement was made during the American Veterinary Medical Association Convention in Anaheim, California.
The certification reflects Boehringer Ingelheim’s investment in initiatives designed to strengthen the connection between people and their pets while supporting veterinarians through education and professional development.
Supporting Veterinary Education
According to HABRI and NAVC, Boehringer Ingelheim has supported human-animal bond research while also providing internal training on the topic. The company’s participation will also help make Human-Animal Bond Certification more accessible to veterinary professionals and clinics.
The Human-Animal Bond Certification program is a 7.5-hour RACE-approved continuing education course developed by HABRI and NAVC. Since launching in 2018, more than 1,280 veterinarians and veterinary technicians have completed the certification. Veterinary and veterinary technician students can also access the program through VetFolio, NAVC’s online continuing education platform.
