Expanding into muscle health

The transaction adds both consumer-facing supplements and veterinary-exclusive formulations centered on Fortetropin®, a patented bioactive ingredient designed to support muscle growth and preservation. According to PetIQ, the ingredient modulates myostatin and is intended to support muscle preservation, mobility, and recovery associated with aging, injury, or surgery. The technology has been studied in humans and companion animals, including dogs, cats, and horses.

PetIQ CEO Camillo Pane said the acquisition reflects growing demand for proactive approaches to pet mobility and healthy aging.

MYOS branding to continue

MYOS CEO Joe Mannello said PetIQ’s distribution and brand-building capabilities will help expand the reach of the company’s products. MYOS products and the Fortetropin® ingredient will continue to be marketed under their existing names.
