- VANE has invested in PawPay, making it the organization’s newest portfolio company.
- PawPay allows insured pet owners to pay only their deductible and co-insurance at the time of service.
- The platform pays veterinary practices directly and manages insurance claims and reimbursement with carriers.
- PawPay is expanding its network of veterinary practices and insurance partners as it prepares for broader commercial growth.
The Veterinary Angel Network for Entrepreneurs (VANE) has announced an investment in PawPay, a veterinary payment platform designed to simplify how insured pet owners pay for care and how veterinary practices receive reimbursement.
Rather than requiring clients to pay the full invoice and wait for reimbursement from their pet insurance provider, PawPay verifies insurance coverage, collects the pet owner’s deductible and co-insurance, pays the veterinary practice directly, and manages the claims and reimbursement process with the insurance carrier.
According to the companies, the platform is intended to reduce financial barriers to care while improving cash flow for veterinary hospitals and minimizing administrative work for practice teams. Clinics submit an invoice and medical record, while PawPay handles claims processing, payment and insurer reimbursement. If a claim is denied, PawPay works directly with the pet owner.
“One of the biggest frustrations for insured pet owners is paying the full cost of care upfront,” said Peter Glassman, DVM, co-founder of VANE. He said the platform provides benefits for pet owners, veterinary practices and insurance providers by simplifying the payment and claims process.
PawPay CEO and co-founder David Franklin said the company is focused on removing financial friction during veterinary visits and is continuing to expand partnerships with veterinary practices and pet insurance carriers.
PawPay is currently onboarding veterinary practices and broadening its insurance integrations as it prepares for wider commercial expansion.
