VetnCare has expanded its Northern California veterinary hospital network through the acquisition of Holistic Veterinary Care, an Oakland-based practice focused on integrative veterinary medicine and rehabilitation.

Founded in 2009, Holistic Veterinary Care combines conventional veterinary medicine with complementary therapies, including acupuncture and chiropractic care. The acquisition broadens the range of specialty services available across VetnCare’s network while maintaining continuity of care under founder Dr. Gary Richter, who will continue practicing and assume the role of Clinical Director.

Expanding integrative care

VetnCare said the acquisition supports its strategy of broadening clinical services across its hospital network through partnerships with established veterinary practices.

Holistic Veterinary Care is recognized for incorporating complementary treatment approaches alongside traditional veterinary medicine, particularly for pain management, rehabilitation, and chronic disease care.

Continued growth through acquisitions

The transaction is VetnCare’s sixth acquisition since partnering with healthcare-focused private equity firm Great Point Partners and the first completed since Matt Kirchner became chief executive officer.

According to the company, VetnCare has more than doubled in size over the past three years through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth.
