Royal Canin has introduced Royal Canin Fresh Veterinary Diets, the company’s first portfolio of fresh, fully cooked therapeutic canine diets available exclusively through veterinary practices and participating veterinary online pharmacy partners in the United States.
The prescription line is designed to provide complete and balanced nutrition for dogs with specific medical conditions while addressing growing pet owner interest in fresh feeding options.
Three prescription formulas debut
The initial product lineup includes three veterinary-exclusive diets:
- Royal Canin Fresh Veterinary Diets Gastrointestinal Low Fat, formulated for dogs requiring fat-restricted nutrition, including those with fat sensitivities and digestive disorders.
- Royal Canin Fresh Veterinary Diets Selected Protein Pork, a single-animal-protein diet designed for dogs with food sensitivities and adverse food reactions.
- Royal Canin Fresh Veterinary Diets Appetite Stimulation, developed for dogs experiencing reduced appetite, recovery from illness or unintended weight loss.
According to the company, each diet combines fresh, fully cooked ingredients with therapeutic nutritional formulations intended to support the management of specific health conditions.
Expanding therapeutic nutrition options
Royal Canin said the launch reflects increasing demand from pet owners for fresh food options while maintaining the nutritional precision required for therapeutic diets.

Jennifer Cullen, general manager of the U.S. Veterinary Business Unit at Royal Canin North America, said veterinarians are having more conversations with clients about fresh feeding approaches, particularly for dogs with medical conditions.
The company also noted that recent American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) consensus guidance on chronic inflammatory enteropathy in dogs reinforces the role of dietary management as part of diagnosis and treatment for clinically stable patients.
