Scratch Financial, Inc., a payment processor and loan platform provider serving veterinary clinics in the United States, announced a new purchase facility agreement with Victory Park Capital (VPC), a global alternative investment firm specializing in private credit and asset-backed finance.

According to Scratch, the agreement is expected to support continued growth in financing options available through the company’s loan technology platform as veterinary care costs remain a significant obstacle for many pet owners.

“We’re excited to partner with Victory Park Capital, a firm with deep expertise in asset-backed credit and a strong understanding of technology-enabled financial services,” said John Keatley, co-founder and CEO of Scratch. “This partnership strengthens our ability to help more pet owners access care when they need it, while supporting the veterinary practices that serve them.”

Expanding Payment and Financing Access

Founded in 2016, Scratch provides veterinary practices with integrated payment processing and financing technology designed to streamline billing workflows and expand payment flexibility for clients.

The company said its platform combines financing options with payment processing tools intended to help clinics simplify reconciliation, improve operational efficiency, and offer more accessible payment solutions for pet owners.

Victory Park Capital said the agreement aligns with its focus on supporting technology-enabled financial services platforms.

“We are proud to support Scratch’s mission of improving access to care through flexible, transparent payment solutions offered on its platform,” said Jason Brown, senior partner at VPC. “Scratch has built a differentiated platform in a highly specialized market, with strong clinic relationships and a management team with significant financial technology experience.”

Addressing Financial Barriers to Veterinary Care

The announcement comes as veterinary practices continue to face increasing pressure to help clients manage rising treatment costs while maintaining practice profitability and continuity of care.

Scratch said the expanded financing capacity is intended to help veterinary clinics offer additional payment flexibility to pet owners seeking treatment for their animals.

Victory Park Capital, founded in 2007 and headquartered in Chicago, became a majority-owned affiliate of Janus Henderson Group in 2024. The firm focuses on private credit, asset-backed finance, and structured financing solutions.

Scratch Pay plans in the U.S. are issued by WebBank and remain subject to eligibility requirements and state availability.
