The North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA) has announced that Isabel Klee, creator of the Simon Sits platform, will serve as the opening keynote speaker at NAPHIA Engage 2026, its biannual conference focused on the future of pet health insurance.

This year’s event will center on the human–animal bond, with discussions exploring the responsibilities and realities of caring for pets—particularly during times of illness, uncertainty, and financial strain. Klee’s keynote is expected to set the tone by highlighting the emotional and ethical dimensions of veterinary care and access to treatment.

“Isabel’s work brings the human–animal bond to life in a way that is both honest and deeply moving,” said Sammi-Jo Nevin, President of NAPHIA. “Her perspective grounds our conversations in why this industry exists and the real impact it has on pets and the people who love them.”

Storytelling Meets Access to Care

Klee is widely recognized for fostering more than 30 dogs, many with significant medical or behavioral challenges. Her experiences caring for animals with complex needs—including her dog Simon, who lives with epilepsy, and her foster dog Zero—have shaped her advocacy and storytelling.

Through Simon Sits, Klee shares stories that illustrate how access to veterinary care can transform outcomes for vulnerable animals. Her work connects industry concepts such as coverage and affordability with real-life decisions faced by pet owners.

Industry-Wide Collaboration

Her keynote will open two days of programming that brings together stakeholders from across the pet insurance ecosystem, including veterinary professionals, insurers, technology providers, and animal welfare organizations.

Klee emphasized the importance of access to care in her remarks, noting that many pets depend on timely medical intervention and that pet owners often need support to make the best decisions for their animals.

NAPHIA Engage 2026 will take place in Charleston, South Carolina, with Klee’s keynote scheduled for May 26.
