Merck Animal Health has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved an expanded label for BRAVECTO QUANTUM (fluralaner for extended-release injectable suspension) in dogs, adding treatment and control of Asian longhorned tick (Haemaphysalis longicornis) and Gulf Coast tick (Amblyomma maculatum) for 12 months.
The product is administered as a single, veterinarian-delivered injection and is designed to provide extended protection against fleas and multiple tick species.
Expanded parasite protection profile
With the updated label, BRAVECTO QUANTUM now delivers 12 months of protection against a broader range of clinically relevant ticks, including Asian longhorned ticks, Gulf Coast ticks, black-legged ticks, American dog ticks, and brown dog ticks. It also provides 8 months of protection against lone star ticks.
The product remains indicated for killing adult fleas and for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations in dogs and puppies 6 months of age and older.
Addressing evolving parasite risks
The addition of these two tick species reflects their expanding geographic presence and increasing importance in canine health. The once-yearly injectable formulation is designed to help veterinarians and pet owners maintain consistent protection and improve compliance compared to more frequent dosing regimens.
