Ethos Discovery has named Tina Rice as president as the nonprofit veterinary research organization prepares for its next phase of growth.
Rice’s appointment follows the transition of founder Dr. Chand Khanna from president to board chair. The organization also announced the addition of Nishant Jadav, managing director at Citigroup, to its board of directors.
The leadership changes come as Ethos Discovery expands its research initiatives focused on improving health outcomes for both animals and humans through translational veterinary science.
The nonprofit works closely with practicing veterinarians to identify real-world clinical challenges and translate those insights into research hypotheses and prospective studies.
Through its partnership with Ethos Veterinary Health, the organization conducts clinical trials across a network of up to 140 hospitals nationwide. This infrastructure enables large-scale patient enrollment while giving pet owners access to innovative clinical research opportunities.
Leadership transition
Rice brings more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience to the role. She joined Ethos Discovery as executive director after previously serving as development director at Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
“It is an honor to lead this organization. The advancements we are making in veterinary and human medicine will have long-standing relevance. We are helping animals today, to better help animals and humans in the future,” Rice said.
Amy Baklund, one of the founders of Ethos Discovery, said Rice’s leadership will help guide the organization’s next phase of scientific development.
“As one of the founders of Ethos Discovery, it is affirming to see our vision evolve into a recognized leader in veterinary scientific innovation,” Baklund said. “Under Tina’s guidance, we will continue to advance translational research that delivers measurable improvements to patients.”
Board expansion
Dr. Khanna’s transition to board chair is intended to strengthen governance and strategic oversight as the organization continues to grow.
“The evolution of the Discovery Board will allow the organization to balance its impressive growth with sound strategic oversight,” Khanna said.
The board also welcomed Nishant Jadav, managing director at Citigroup overseeing investment banking activities across the healthcare services sector.
Jadav brings more than 25 years of experience advising healthcare companies on strategic and capital markets transactions across both human and animal health sectors.
“I have followed Ethos Discovery for a number of years, and I am honored to join the board of directors to contribute towards its philanthropic mission,” Jadav said.
Ethos Discovery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on advancing veterinary scientific innovation through clinical research programs spanning oncology, neurology, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, anesthesia, therapeutics, and surgery.
