adoro Pet Insurance has named pet insurance veteran Scott Taylor as chief business development officer, adding an experienced industry executive as the company looks to accelerate growth through employer benefits and strategic partnerships.
In the newly created role, Taylor will oversee adoro’s employee benefits and partnership distribution strategy, with a focus on expanding access to pet insurance through benefit brokers, employer-sponsored programs and other partner channels.
Industry Veteran Joins Growing Insurer
Taylor brings more than two decades of insurance business development experience to the position, including more than 10 years dedicated to the pet insurance sector.
Prior to joining adoro, he served as president of Spot Pet Insurance, one of the industry’s largest providers. His background includes developing distribution partnerships and scaling insurance programs through employer and affinity channels.
“His deep experience in employee benefits and partner distribution is exactly what we need as we accelerate our growth,” said Gavin Friedman, co-founder and chief executive officer of adoro. “Scott understands how to build distribution at scale.”
Taylor said he was attracted to adoro’s approach to pet insurance and believes employers are increasingly seeking pet-related benefits that can help attract and retain talent.
“Employers and distribution partners are looking for pet insurance that they can confidently recommend to their employees and customers,” Taylor said. “I’m excited to bring adoro to those audiences and build our distribution network.”
Employer Benefits Becoming Key Growth Channel
The appointment comes as pet insurance continues to experience rapid growth in the United States.
According to the company, the U.S. pet insurance market generated more than $5.5 billion in written premium during 2025 and continues to expand at an annual rate approaching 20%. Despite that growth, fewer than 4.5% of pets are currently insured.
Industry observers increasingly view employer-sponsored pet insurance programs as one of the fastest-growing distribution channels, as organizations look to enhance benefits packages with offerings that resonate with pet-owning employees.
Supporting Expansion Plans
Founded by industry veterans Gavin Friedman and Tricia Plouf, adoro offers accident and illness coverage for dogs and cats, along with optional wellness plans.
The company said it is currently selling pet insurance products in 46 states and is focused on delivering simplified coverage, more stable pricing and streamlined claims processing through its digital platform.
Taylor’s appointment is expected to play a central role in expanding the company’s distribution footprint as competition intensifies across the growing pet insurance market.
